 Phowler Extreme 2072 by request
Had someone call yesterday and ask for pictures of our 2072 Extreme hull. Said they could not find any pics on the forums so we are posting a few up.
This is our 2072 Phowler Extreme. We introduced this boat in 2009, it was our first two peice hull. This is a big boat, 8' beam. We have built 18 of these big girls since we first offered them for sale in 2009. This is one we have here right now.
Here are a few pictures:
One of the amazing things about these big boats is that they will run well with a load of 4-6 men with a single 36 PD. We have carried up to 1500 lbs of people with a stock 36 and planed out and ran 19 mph in deep water, 21 shallow. We have three of them out there in 18-20' with full hardblinds and they still only draft 4-5" loaded and will plane out with four men, gear and dogs etc.
These are by no means timber running boats, but for open water marshes, big lakes and big water, they really haul a load yet can run as shallow as the skinny boats.

Yes, we rigged two with duals last year, they ran around 28-33 with stock 36 PD's and stock props (would need to reprop for more speed), but it did not matter how many folks we put in them, 2,3,4,5,6 it still ran 27 mph, with 11 full size men it ran 25 mph.
Even with the duals, it still only drafted about 6" of water are the back, so it would motor into very little water, even over hard bottom.

just looking at the first picture it sure does seem like there is alot of waisted space inbetween the sides of the boat and the gun boxes. have you ever thought about forming the boxes to the sides of the boat like the two pods in the back? it would just be that much more room in the boxes for dry storage.

Owen--I may be wrong but I think those gun boxes are removeable and that would be the reason. Mine are removeable in my 1848 and I kinda like the area between the box and the hull for storing things you don't want in the box or need real quick.
I have never seen a Phowler with welded in gunboxes but I'm sure PW will chime in when he gets a chance.

Yes we do make welded in boxes that form to match the side, but 90% of our boats go out with the movable boxes for just the reason Phathead noted, guys like to put spud poles, pushpoles, robo poles, paddle etc behind them so they don't have to make mounts for them in the boat or have them on top of the box or on the floor. Again, we do make welded in boxes as well. The other thing about these boxes, you can mount swivel seats on them without the seat hitting the gunnel when you turn. They are spaced just right to hunt off of.
