Post Sea Foam in Diesels?
Any of you guys used Sea Foam in your Diesel motors? I was reading the bottle the other day and saw that it said for use in diesel motors.

Sea foam is mostly alcohol, alcohol takes away from lubricity. On modern diesels injection pressure reach 32,000 psi. So having modern day ulsd, that already has lower lubricity qualities, and adding a treatment of alcohol, causes chances of extra wear. Don't use diesel 911 or sea foam unless your gelled up and an in emergency. Best thing to use is a bit of 2 stroke oil in every fill up.

Thanks for the input. It seemed like an odd thing to be putting in a diesel motor

I would not put sea foam in any motor.

I use diesel kleen grey for summer white for winter. About twice a year I'll add two stroke marine oil about a quart or so. Same routine past 5 years, still running great, all injectors are at a good rate at idle. I love me some seafoam, just not in a diesel. This is on a tuned up truck, still stock injectors though.

An annual SeaFoam treatment (32oz in 3/4gal of gasoline) is a great way to keep carbon from building up in an outboard engine. That carbon can have a negative effect on the lubricity of your two-stroke oil.

A quart of transmission fuid every or every other tank full keeps the injectors clean. That with an annual seafome would hurt anything .

All you crazy mofo's adding all these tricks to a high tech, tight tolerance High pressure common rail injection system blows my mind. They are all designed by the Germans who have been running ULSD for many years before us. It is safe to run ULSD through any High pressure common rail injected diesel.
Now the old mechanically injected motors, pour whatever you want in the tank. I have used tcw3 @ stroke a few times and Diesel Kleen, but honestly the last 3 years of my LBZ's life it seen pure ULSD, and my Injector balance rates are all well within spec.
