Looking to get an outboard for my 15" transom 1754. Since most outboards 50hp + are long shafts its looking like I will need to get a jack plate. Any recommendations? I won't need anything fancy, its just a bowfishing boat.

Atlas makes an electric jack plate for small motors I have one for my 60 yamaha and all u gotta do is bolt it on and give it power and run your wires to the switch no pumps to deal with

I just put one of the Atlas Micro-jacks on my short transom Lowe. Not sure what you're trying to accomplish though. You're not going to have enough travel in the jackplate to effectively use it the way it's designed with a long shaft motor on a short transom. If you're looking to raise the lower unit up to run in shallow water, you won't have enough travel. If you're just looking raise the lower unit of the LS motor up to SS height, you probably will be able to get close depending on where you mount the jackplate but that's a lot of money to spend on something just to make you motor mount higher.

Either have your transom built up or find a short shaft motor. Bunch of ss motors to be had if you're patient.

How much higher are you needing to raise the transom? Easy fix is to get a piece of 1/8" aluminum plate 12 "wide x 30 " long. Get it broke into a U the thickness of your transom in equal halves so you have ample overlap. If you need to come up 4", put a piece of PT 2x4 inside the U, slip it over the transom and bolt it thru the transom. I've seen a lot of 16"transoms done this way to take a long shaft outboard. Works day in and day out.
