So we have a major issue with saw grass in our duck ponds and I was wondering what's the best way to get rid of the shit. Right now the pond is really dry so I was thinking about taking my tractor and bush hog and cutting it down then maybe spraying it with something to keep it down but does anyone have any other suggestions? Please I need help before we fill the pond and I'll just have to put up with it through the season which I don't want to do.

Get some diquat and hose it down . You probably won't even need to bush hog it after that.

Or good old fashioned round up or ground clear. Just dose it. Make sure it can stay on the plants without getting rained on for 24hrs. Or 2-4-D and diesel, but nothing will grow there for about a year if you use that

I'm not worried about anything growing back I'm more worried bout putting something down that would possibly kill the crawfish. Right now it's dry enough I can bush hog and spray something.

I'd stick with a good powerful generic like ortho ground clear. It doesn't hurt critters.

2 4 D is a round up type spray. It is badass. Especially when mixed either diesel . That shit will kill anything. And I promise I won't come back for along time

OP: burn it down with some DIQUAT, which literally roasts a plant in a matter of a few hours, and is a labeled aquatic herbicide. Then come back and thank me.

I agree with flint87 on this one. no outboard is going to put that much fuel into the water lol. just cause an outboard puts fuel in the water does not mean we need to put more.

If flint works with environmental things he probably knows better than a redneck such as myself.

I'm just saying the diesel 24d flat out murders whatever it touches. I've used it for things such as thistle, stickers, my gravel driveway. Just places I don't want any vegetation. Elsewhere I've used mineral oil and 24d

2-4-d is NOT a "roundup type herbicide". They could not be more different.

Diesel fuel should not be effing sprayed on weeds. Terrible idea.

There is a right herbicide for every situation but 2-4-d is usually used to kill broad leaf weeds, not grasses. It should never be used where it can get into water. I don't know what the right herbicide is in this situation but it is neither fuel or 2-4-d.

I don't give a rats ass what yall say 24d and diesel kills anything .
