The new brands are always half price until people start buying them. Then they raise right up to the same price range or just a few dollars less.

This is the same company that is being sued by Yeti, so I would be careful about sending them any money.

Magellan has a model they sell that is same price as that one and in stock. I think the hinges are actually better than the yeti and or these. On your academy shelf right now probably.

They keep saying patent infringement...it's a trademark lawsuit. Read the link that's even posted in that thread that shows the initial complaint.

Some of the other stuff about time frames don't look all that great, but for the most part, the people participating in that thread don't know how to read. If they get them in stock, I'd probably order one.. If you pay with a credit card, I wouldn't be overly concerned with getting your money back.

Last thing posted in that thread is interesting..

Yeti coolers are way over rated. Glad I got mine on a super good buy or I would demand my money back. Yeti are tough no doubt but I'm not sold on the cooling part.

I don't care what kind of cooler you have, For ice to last you need to Cool the cooler before you pack it full.. Say you have a 90* hot cooler, hot drinks and already melting ice, brand of cooler means nothing. Now take that cooler and toss a bag of ice in it over night, Go buy cold beer, and then drain the water put cold beer in cool cooler with cold ice and then you can do a comparison of which cooler you like the best. I like my yetis for the fact I can go a whole weekend and have ice at the end of a weekend. My old green colemans lost ice in the summer within hours!

Just bring your cooler inside the night/day before. I've got a $50 coleman that keeps ice just as long if not longer than my buddies yeti. Make some pvc polar tubes to lay in the bottom of your cooler then add ice on top

Its all about what temp you start them out at. I have sous-vide backstrap inside a Yeti cooler, just saying.

Or you could get a small chest freezer and a small inverter generator and never have to worry about Ice again.

But seriously do they have different foams or is it just the thickness of the foam that determines ice retention between the high end coolers.

I'm No expert, but I would think the thickness of the walls/ foam is what allows it to be more efficient regardless of brand.

I really don't think any of them hold ice a whole lot better than any of the others. If you pre-cool, and keep it shut, a cheap $50 cooler will hold ice for a long time. The whole roto-molded deal is nice, because the coolers don't fall apart. You can throw them around, stand on them, whatever. The cheap ones, even 100 dollar ones, the hinges break and fall off, the lids collapse if you sit or stand on them, they warp in the sun, etc.

My Coleman extreme 30 qt keeps ice for 2 solid days. And that's if you just pull the cooler out of the shed and throw everything in there hot then put ice on.

I wouldn't personally get one.. But I don't care what kind of ice chest you have though in Louisiana heat the ice chest needs to be pre-cooled. If you leave ice in it all night and then dump that out and fill it back with more ice up you can keep ice for 4-5 days. Yeti's have become more a fashion statement here lately.. I really like the Kysek brand. Thicker lid than the yeti, stainless latches and hardware, they have a built in bottle opener, 2 inch and 3/4 inch drain plug, the whole lid is a cutting board, and WHEELS so you can actually move it without two body builders when its full of ice and drinks or meat. I still don't know why yeti won't put freaking wheels not their cooler. The 100qt weighs 70 lbs unloaded.

I've been really impressed with the igloo yukon and sportsman lines. I won a yukon a year ago and it made me a believer. Just hot a sportsman 70. There the perfect blend of price, weight and ice retention. Buy that's just one fools opinion!

I don't have a problem with ice running out. I always run out of beer way before I run out of ice. Now if someone can point out the brand that will keep beer in it for 4 or 5 days I'll buy it. I have a coleman extreme that is over 10 years old and it still works good. I just grab some more ice when I grab another case of beer.

it has been 93 to 99 for the past week or longer here in South Arkansas and my 50qt has only had ice once in 11 days, needs some in the morning so I would look into operator error IMO. I think your head space and timing may be off.

BLOCK ICE !!! When we go to the camp for the weekend, I use regular as well as several large pieces of block ice. Just use an ole container and freeze some. Its the surface area of the smaller ice cubes that melt fast. It a cheaper way to keep your shit cold rather than spending $200-$300 on an icechest.

I freeze juice bottles filled with water. I try to stay away from the milk jugs or 2 liter because the plastic is thinner, but it works pretty well in a cooler or when we go offshore and have one of those big bag type coolers to put fish in
