 Re: RTIC Coolers
I honestly think one of those thick walled styrofoam coolers they use for produce holds ice better than anything. I loaded one down with frozen meat and topped it off with what little ice I could get in it (about half of a 8# bag). Taped the lid shut and strapped it to the roof of my SUV and drove 850 miles in the middle of summer. When I got home the next day and opened it up, it was still completely frozen. Not very durable, granted, but for keeping crap cold they cant be beat.

 Re: RTIC Coolers
Same here with a dinky Coleman. Filled the voids with crumpled up newspaper and taped the crack around the lid. Didn't have a drop of water in it when I got home.

 Re: RTIC Coolers
Cooler update: Had beer and ice in my Coleman extreme 40qt for 5 days that I had forgot about. Opened it up 5 days later and it had all melted for the most part but I still had ice floating In it. Been within a few degrees of 90 everyday. I see no need to buy a yeti. I might add it was 12 beers. And a couple bottles of liquor and just 10 lbs of ice when I started the day

 Re: RTIC Coolers
There are 3 reason's people buy the high end coolers.
1. For the little extra ice rention. (if your do your part and minimize opening it, it will hold ice longer)
2. Because of the strength and durability. (You can't deny they're tough. You can sit and stand on them. You can throw a 40# deer hind quarter in it and not bust the bottom. Try that with a coleman)
3. To be cool
I buy them for #1 and #2. If you are a high end cooler hater keep rocking your low end cooler and we can live in harmony.

I wouldn't trust standing on one of my colemans, maybe if I wasn't 240. I'll stick with the yeti

 Re: RTIC Coolers
They are all about th same got a k2 and yeti. If u open them all the time might as well by a foam one. They don't hold ice any longer than any other brand when opening.

 RTIC Coolers
I don't know bout you fellas must be light weights cause if there are 48 beers in the cooler they ain't lasting 5 days maybe a night or two so my styrofoam cooler is good can you stand on it sure but not for long through shoulders or hams or anything in them yep but only once can you buy like 100 for the price of 1 "yeti" oh yeah and I never have to worry about them being stolen most ppl buy the coolers for the 3rd reason just because they are super cool and put the sticker on there truck but you guys aren't those kinda ppl right

 Re: RTIC Coolers
I went with one of the blem's from k2's website instead. It took about two days to arrive at my house and I couldn't find anything wrong with it other than a light scratch on the lid.

 Re: RTIC Coolers
I have both high end and even dollar store coolers. We usually use the cheap coolers for games or small outings. When we have large get together a at the house or go on a vacation I use the yeti. Both have there purposes. Cheap ones are light and hold ice long enough for a day out at the park or game. The yeti is nice to have for long trips on vacation ( Florida ect ) . I love my cheap ice chest but it is nice having the big yeti and don't have to nurse the ice on long trips.
