Throttle and manual choke done.
Engine required 1 inch of stroke from idle to wot, control box has 2 1/4 travel.so i added an extension arm to put engine throttle trave to 2 1/4.

Its a mess at the moment, but power trim working from control box, starter turns with key.
Only kill wire and charging wire left.then tidy up.

Bout as meat as im gonna get it for now.
Everything works from control box except choke.
All she needs is fuel and test ride.

Please change that damn oil before you run it. It takes 5 minutes and about 10$. Sure would hate for you to burn up the engine on your first outing because of something preventable

Just fired the beast up,everything working as it should.didnt rev over 1500 rpm though....my kids are watchin a movie inside.
I almost wanna go launch her tonight....lol.
Muffler is pretty quiet....but produced alot of radient heat in 1 min running ....6 in away....couldnt stand to keep my hand near it.
Im fearing shes clogged up.

Oil and filter changed, all i could find was a phram for a 19 intek.
Online states 18-26 intek take the same filter.went on no issues.

Definitely run that thing and take a vid.... Curious to see how it does. I feel like all those props are going to be too steep for that motor.

Test ran some more, bout to launch in all this wind.
Adjusted govoner, but if i go higher my idle raises up.so im limited to about 2800 rpm at the moment.

18-20 mph with 50 wheel, gotta move shift linkage 1/2 further back...stays in foward when control box in neutral.
The other wheels are too small.
This govner only hittin around 2500 loaded wot 2600 no load.....nowhere near where i wanna be.
I wanna work the bugs out before gettin a vid.
Plus its really windy puttin a dent in my speed.
Lots of lowend torque...i love it

Done few more runs, adjusted govner and throttle.
I had my dad drive...i pulled govner....it was maxed out already.
I think my boats just too heavy.
70 johnson only pushed it 31-34 mph at 5400 rpm.

But with 2 people i actually got up to 24 mph with my dad on the bow.still not bad considering the frankenstein build.
Lots of tweakin to do....but i think i need a lighter boat to hit 30 plus mph.

Took her on a 15 mile cruise today,around bourg area,upper bayou terrebonne,intercoastal.
All went well untill i headed back to boat launch.fuel problems, anything past half throttle id run outta fuel within a few seconds.swapped fuel pumps...same result.im assuming my old fuel hose and primer bulb is the culprit.
Burned 3 gal of gas today just playin around.

Post Re: outboard leg mud motor(now running 26 briggs)
im currently considering running the smaller wheel,i have a bps 4470-4670 limiter.....trying to research if the intek can handle that kinda rpms though.ive read anything over 4300 rpm requires valve spring shims or tighter springs.
but that info was on a 23 vanguard.....my understanding the intek series is a cheaper engine.

i posted questions in engine mod.

I think it's great results for what its made from,I don't think pure mud is an option however shallow water runningwould not
Be an issue.maybe less prop pitch is the way to go.Perhaps raising the motor about an inch above the transom might help.

I can lift motor upto 2.5 inches using factory bracket bolt holes.
Run her surface drive with current wheel, and govner work.
Currently my cavitation plate is 1/2 in higher that bottom of boat.

Sounds like a good plan, step her up 3/4 in at a time.
This is the moment when a jack plate would be handy.

Redlined suggested a lawn mower forum....full of racin fanatics that hop up intek engines.....ill be hangin out over thete for a lil while researchin.
Ive also got work lined up this weekend....so dont expect updates.....but stay tuned.hopefully my next vid will be more impressive.
Honestly im impressed with 20-25 outta this rig.
My intention with this build started out as a sliw motor to push around my 18ft camp boat.

The heymow forum has a dedicated place for briggs v twins, all race mod talk.those guys are nuts about performance.

yeah...i just read they run the 20-26 inteks (44ci) upto 8k rpm loaded during a 1 hour race.....mind blowing.
shaved heads,billet rods....ect.
were talking 60 hp small block briggs that can last 50 1 hour races.
imagine what those mods can do for a mudmotor.

The racing mower forum hasnt been helpful.....if its not going on a racing mower, and being run in a sanctioned race, they wont help or offer info.
But they have impressive builds and results.
Acording to their builds ,$2000 on my engine will give her 50 reliable hp at 7k rpm.

I had a blown intake gasket.....and fuel hose too long, pump too weak to supply fuel to carb at full theottle.
Last run i kept running out of fuel.
Im gonna break 30 mph....stay tunned.

That will really cause problems. Should be a big improvement with the leak fixed and new pump.

Post Re: outboard leg mud motor(now running 26 briggs)
Went take her a good 6 hour ride saturday in the rain.i have hovner set pretty low.....1600 rpms wot about 18 mph,my boat is just too heavy to get any speed from this setup.
My hull weights around 1000 or better.
Its a 1754 duracraft bass boat.new from factory its a 1400 lb hull....but i removed all under floor foam and both livewells, along with console storage.

Im rear heavy with either motor.

So for now this will be a slow cruiser untill i can get a lighter boat.....or another 26/50 yami motor to add to it....lol.
Id really like a 40hp vertical shaft.

Believe me...id love to
But im flatbroke, barely makin ends meet at the moment.
If i had the cash id invest in this rig, electric fuel pump, bigger better motor, custom prop, home made ultrajack....ect.

I get alot stares and compliments on this motor.
Finally installed a mr gasket #42s 2-3.5 psi electric fuel pump, settled for the slower 35 merc wheel and lowered govner a lil bit.the result is slower topend but better lowend and cheap on fuel.1 gal of gas gives me 2.5 hours full throttle runs.
My power trim motor took a crap,so ive been avoiding shallow stuff.
