Look, if it weren't for the creation of Indian Bayou WMA, none of the 28,000 acres it includes would be accessible to the public today; it would have all been leased out to corporations or wealthy individuals, just like what happened across the river with the Texaco land which was purchase by wealthy individuals and eliminated several long standing hunting clubs. The majority owner of the land was St. Martin Land Company's who today still owns vast expanses of the Atchafalaya Basin and they have not been friend of the average sportsman. They are developing subdivisions on the river now. So, its important for some to continue to protect the public's access to it and not let just a few squatters have their way.

I wonder if i went to my favorite fishing spot here on lake Murray and roped it off and said nobody else can fish this cove but me how all the other fishermen and DNR would react to that. Probably look at me like i was crazy and take my rope down..

Beat em to the hole, we don't have much private hunting land here in FL it's usually a race as soon as you start the truck that morning to go hunting. Most Mgmt areas won't even let you in til 4am and there's usually a line of traffic waiting at the gates. Every weekend is like Black Friday come hunting season. If you get shined or u spot another boat you move on to find another spot. I usually try to plan on having 2 or 3 back ups in preparation in case that happens. I damn sure ain't gonna argue with someone with a gun at 4am. But don't get me wrong if I shine a person and they move on only to set up a 100yds or so away from me I'll let em know, if they don't get it then maybe they like pepper on their eggs.

What I like about the first to arrive rule is it favors the older hunters like me who don't stay up all night getting drunk and the dedicated young non drinker, who can get up early to hunt.

If you stay up all night getting drunk you dont have to leav early. Because its 3am wen your done drinking

Getting drunk is never an excuse to not wake up early. You learn that quick in the tournament fishing world. I'd be willing to bet you half the pros could get dui's well into 10-11 o'clock the next morning

Fishing the flw regional college bass fishing tournament at table rock, mo a kid got a BUI at about 9-10 a.m. he paid one of the spectators to drive him around the rest of the day
