 Re: GDSD with F-N-R
There is a video if it on Facebook on west tn duck boats and from the looks of it it still has manual trim... Good luck keeping that thing digging in the thick stuff, they said it's gear driven and therefore that's why it had the ungodly huge cover behind the engine

Gear driven? I wonder how much the retrofit is going to cost.

 GDSD with F-N-R
I'm let down to see that they didn't change the design of the lower unit and belt/gear housing. If you run a lot of floating thick stuff it gets caught on everything. Can't imagine it in reverse.
That said, my next motor will be a GD efi.

 Re: GDSD with F-N-R
Since it doesn't have trim fins it might be a weighted back design.

 Re: GDSD with F-N-R
All these comments and you guys are still missing the point. With that setup, NO MORE LAWNMOWER CLUTCHES TO BURN UP!!! I've been looking for a gearbox assembly for my PD for some time now to totally do away with the clutch.

 Re: GDSD with F-N-R
They are just fooling around with R&D concepts... WC ran this "concept" at his camp two years ago... It will have no more switches or clutches to fail than the current design and will be retro-adaptable to existing GDSDs if he decides to release it... I am not holding my breath or interested in having it - but a certain number of clients may want it so time will tell how many "old school" GD guys even care...

 Re: GDSD with F-N-R
In 200 to 300 hrs of running each summer I might use a push pole 2 or 3 times. My friends around anchorage say they would use reverse every time they went out. We are running in very different conditions. My point is I don't need reverse, but some folks won't buy a motor without it. The important thing is Coco won't put it on the market until he is confident of the reliability. That may be this year, next year or never. when and if it is released the reliability will be up to Godevil standards and if it isn't you can bet Coco will hear about it. I wonder how he would feel about building a reverse for my Supercub or Harley.Never mind, I wouldn't use it with them either.
