Has anyone ever got a huntdeck made and installed on a regular aluminum hull like an alweld or southfork? I found a good deal on a GTR35 on a southfork hull and was considering getting some kind of extra flotation on the back like pods or a deck. I would like to put a deck but have never seen it on jon boats like that before. Never owned a mud motor before so any help is appreciated.

I added a deck to the back of an old riveted 1436 monarch last year. It was a bit tough welding the 1/8" deck to a .060" hull, but it worked ok. I had reinforced the transom prior, so it was easy to tie the deck to the transom bracing. Most huntdecks have the longitudinal bracing running into them to create a backbone.

Would be wise to sell the flat bottom and save your money for a used hunt deck. You can find them here on MMT. You will not be pleased with this type of conversion.

Come out much better in the long run getting rid of the other boat and then use that money and get what you want.. there are a lot of great deals on awesome mud boats right now. Not sure on shape of the southfork, but I believe that is a decent all welded boat that you should be able to get some decent money for..

what is your end goal? are you just trying to make it bigger? or does it need the extra floatation? is it backwashing or what?

At most, I would consider pods, but only then if I had someone experienced at putting pods on boats do it....

It can be done but sometimes the juice just aint worth the squeeze

look i got a custom tims flat made with the deck on it i wanted to do the same thing but the guy who builds them said it has to be built into the hull adding on the deck that the motor will mount to is not a good idea it will eventually weaking but i love my hull by the way get the ribs on the bottom all this smooth botom shit is worthless dont follow that bandwagon
