Post Mikuni carb
I have a 35 hp mud buddy with heads cam exhaust. Just added the mikuni and it runs great sitting in the driveway. When I take it to the water is runs awesome for about 3 minutes. Then screws up. It runs fine from 1/4 throttle to wot but from idle if I give it throttle it stumbles a couple seconds and then goes. Also when I shut it off its hard to get back started. Anyone have any idea what this could be?

Sounds like fuel delivery but there's a million things to check. What jetting are you running?

The tank vent is open and I jus replaced the fuel lines. I am running a fuel water separator. I'm not sure if that matters and it is a vacuum pump

I would adjust the ACC pump to barely any gap, then make sure it is spraying on the jet needle. Needle nose pliers can coax it back into positon.

Not to hijack but is there any problem with the gap being too closed? Mine is spraying fuel into the slide for a split second as soon as I hit the throttle

If the a/f isn't set right it could cause this too. Did you read the manual and set everything before you run the motor?

Yes I set everything like the manual said. Also called the boat dr and he said make sure the acc pump is spraying in the right spot and it's also good

Does the acc pump need to be hitting the needle when it sprays or just going by it

Ask the person/company that sold you the cam. Also, you could read the 7000 posts on the subject on this forum. There's a discussion that's been happening the last week or two concerning that very thing.

Acc pump has to hit the jet needled to splatter the fuel to help atomize it.
