Post Any of yall do the kayak thing?
Just bought one and waiting for it to come in.

In the meantime I've noticed there weren't too many forums out there to learn more about them so I created a cool new forum.

Introducing. . . . TheKayakForum.com!

I invite everyone to join and share their experiences.

I use a piroque for duck hunting , but use a 12' pelican kayak to fish around the house

I have two I am getting ready to sell. One of them has seen the water one time. Both in excellent condition. I just never make time to use them unfortunately. You will have fun with it as long as you make time

Post Re: Any of yall do the kayak thing?
The wife and I have had kayaks since 2007. She just likes to paddle around and take pics. I've used mine for everything. Even constructed a lightweight blind for it to try hunting out of. Its just a bit too cramped for my liking with a loaded gun. My biggest issue is the strain it puts on your lower back and butt. I've built pontoons to help stabilize it (so I cant stand up) but they slow you down when paddling, which can be a major workout if your going against the wind or current. Haven't used it much since leaving Florida, but was awful proud to see them both still resting in their cradles on the back of the house after the Sabine flood. How they stayed put is beyond me. Mine is a Wilderness Series Tarpon 120 , hers is an Ocean Kayak and is actually easier to stand in since the bottom is about 3"wider. There aint nothing more thrilling than putting a 100 pound tarpon boatside in a kayak! (Or scarier when a big bull or hammerhead decides it wants your fish!!!!!!!!!)

I really dislike the dick-headed kayakers that shun you for making noise or a wake. Good luck with your new site, and don't be one of those dick-headed kayakers.

We're looking to go in the Vermillion River, Bayou Teche, places like that. Not really looking to go where there's a ton of boat traffic.

Every time we went look at them at different stores there was always a bunch of folks looking to get one. Dey popular like dat. Lol

Use kayaks a lot on the rivers up here in the Upstate of SC. I run a Jackson Cuda 12' that has a seat like a recliner. Kayaking has become popular no doubt. The ramp and portages used to be ghost towns, now I see people every week.
