 gtr trim switch
Has anyone added a trim switch to the end of the tiller handle on the new gtr?

 gtr trim switch
You have to rewire the entire trim system and you can no longer use the stock trim switch. Only way is to find a switch that can handle heavy current. Typically small switches won't handle the load.

 Re: gtr trim switch
Maxxis. You can use stock switch in stock location. All you have to do is use two diodes in the stock switch harness so that it can't backfeed the stock switch. Done it many times.

 Re: gtr trim switch
No just any 12 volt diode will work. There will be no high amp draw on that switch the stock one that is. When you are using other switches. You are just preventing 12 volts going back up to stock switch is all. Hope that is understandable to you. I just use 12 gauge mini fuse holder. wire it in on both wires and buy regular mini two spade diodes that gm uses in there fuse box.

 Re: gtr trim switch
Being the stock switch has a built in Shunt in the off position, Is a diode truly needed? The power even if backfed to the switch it should stop there. Am I thinking correctly.

 Re: gtr trim switch
Sorry about getting back late. U will have to run wires from stock switch to relay pack or to bottom spades of reversing solenoid. Install diodes as I said earlier in the wires going to stock switch. than take stock switch cover off and remove the switch ground. And than u can run as many switches as u want. U don't have to do this but I like the way the stock switch fits in the control cover. By doing this it takes all the amps away from switch and puts the amps in the relay pack or solenoid. Does this help you.

Yes makes perfect since now. So a 1 amp 2 spade fuse style diode will work? And you use a fuse holder like GT uses for the clutch?

 Re: gtr trim switch
Yes krazo any low amp diode will work. And yes you use same type fuse holder as said. Hopefully the old basterd lol. Will show you how to do a electric reverse at a very low cost. That will work on any generation gtr. And yes I've seen it and it works.

 Re: gtr trim switch
Screw a clutch plate to the planetary, put another clutch on backwards, make sure everything is spaced right, and run the wires to a switch. All done.

 Re: gtr trim switch
Nope not even close. And much cheaper and a whole lot simpler: and your way although will work will it work on a let's say 2011 gtr. Without mods to the existing pad ?.
