Post burnt stator
yo, think my stator is fried. fixin to pull stuff apart and see whats up. voltage regulator/rectifer too.
question, can you put the newer charging system on a older motor. i know i'll need a differant flywheel. i already have the high rev coils.

i ask, because if i'm gonna spend some money, i just assume get the most bang for the buck.

thanks

Yes, you can. Deadbird posted a really good writeup here somewhere with pics. Find that, tells you everything pretty much you'll need.

I have a flywheel with about 50 hours on it I'll sell yeah. Toughest part of going up to a 50 is drilling and tapping the block. I will say the 50 system seems to cause less problems than the 20s.
Get yourself a harmonic balance puller, they rent then at the auto parts store, work great on pulling the wheel off.

hadf some time today so i pulled off the old stator. it was broke in half. hadn't worked in a long time.

pd didn't have a 20 amp stator, so i ordered one off amazon for 50$ and a new voltage regulator for 100$ and a flywheelpuller for 20$

so.... waiting on parts.

if i feel like going fishing tomorrow i'll just throw it back together and roll.
