I don't know of any local that do good quaility for a good price. I'll try to get the name of the guy some friends I know use but they said he is only doing work for old clients. If I get it I'll pm the name number and cost to you tommorow.

My last birds went to Bloomquist in Hammond,I'm still waiting to get them back. I think they were 300 a bird.

Check out birdmanstudios.com; a friend sends all of his birds to this guy. All of my birds from now on will go there. As for as everything else(deer, exotics, etc), I use Roy Dickerson in Mauriceville, Tx

Jay Lambremont does excellent work with mounting most everything, fish, ducks, deer, snakes, bobcat, moose, etc. He is in Garyville and his number is 985-535-9266.

We have a guy over here that does them For $185 with a 3 month turn around. He does top quality work, never had any complaints! Went and saw him about doin a SPRIG for me that i shot this past year and a woody and Blue wing teal in full plumage, talk about some fine birds and he even makes them look better on the Wall! ;) :)

Probably way too far away for you unless you want to ship to him..

But Buddy's in Marshall, TX (right outside Shreveport) is fantastic. Does good work and prices are reasonable (did two canvasbacks for me for $200 each)...

His name is Mark.

Been taking stuff there for at least 15 years.... And know a bunch of people who took them there to his dad (Buddy) before that...

Great work.

If you use him, ck his time frame. He stays VERY busy so it might take a while but it will be good...

A. Quick Turn Around

B. Inexpensive

C. Quality Work

You get to pick two. And most likely, you are going to have ship your bird - which is no big deal. They recieve and ship mounts all the time.

I jsut had two BW Teal mounted last year and they were $150 a bird. Guy I normally use was $180 a bird, but went ahead and tried a new guy out. Wish I would of used my regular guy, but the teal still came out good though. My usual taxidermist is Ken Dugas in Coteau Holmes, LA. Local for me, but not for you.

Out of state choices, none other than Pat Pitt in MS.

Im not sure how far you want to drive, but if you are ever in the central Texas area, try this guy.

www.fortsonstaxidermy.com

Don't be thrown off by the website, he's not a big city guy, and his prices are fair. Especially on geese. I had the pleasure of looking at some of his works in progress when I dropped off a few birds and a deer to him. He loves talking about his work and will do everything he can to make your mount turn out exactly how you want.

He'll communicate by email so you can send him pics of other mounts for reference. I used this website because they have so many positions and postures.

www.birdmanstudios.com

Anyway, fortson is no my brother in law or anything, but if anyone needs good work done in the area, he can definately help you out.
