Post Fuel filter never full
I have an HDR BD 44. Not sure if I have a problem or not. The fuel filter never stays full. It is basically always 1/2 to 3/4 full even when running full throttle. It's always been that way and doesn't seem to affect operation but it's got me stumped. Only thing I can think of is air is getting in some where. I've inspected the lines and all looks well to me. Is this even something to be worried about or is it somewhat normal.

That is pretty normal as the fuel is getting sucked through the filter, not pushed.

What you have is a low pressure pump. Supplying a low fuel demand engine. The filter housing is serving as a air bubble. You have such a low psi demand that the air bubble can't be pushed thru. If your tank was above engine air bubble would be gone. The only thing that will happen is your filter will plug sooner since you are only using a portion of its media. If you have a e pump you could take hose off at carb and run fuel pump and air might be pushed thru. But it will come right back. You are not hurting your engine so run it.

just get some duck tape and tape over the empty part of your filter so it always looks full. lol

i'd be more concerned if it stayed full. but then again, if it were running good i'd never look at the filter either way. lol

Those filters are more of a screen anyways. They are 30 micron ish rated... They really only catch hunks of debris and not really "filter" the fuel.
