Whose gonna go with a lectron?
Saw on deltas Facebook page they started using the lectron carbs. I don't know much about them. Seem easier to tune. I know that delta performance produce quality parts and service.
Anyone have any info on the carbs themselves?

Re: Whose gonna go with a lectron?
If Jamie and Calen like it, I'm sure there's good reason. I wouldn't worry too much about it. There's tons of carbs that will work fine on these motors, getting the intake adapters and stuff like that is the hard part.

Re: Whose gonna go with a lectron?
Sounds like a good way to come up with a kit and mark it up then sell it to everybody you already sold a Mikuni kit to and now even people you haven't . Latest and the greatest .

Re: Whose gonna go with a lectron?
Far from it man. I won't be buying any of it (they don't have parts for my motor even if I wanted to). Just saying, them two boys know they're shit so I'm sure whatever they chose is a good option. Again, my best guess is that this has more to do with setting themselves apart a bit, more than anything else. I doubt it's much of a performance difference. I would also suspect that THEY believe it's a better option for some reason or another.

Re: Whose gonna go with a lectron?
Im sure they've dyno'd the both of them and on paper theres most likely a performance improvement. Whether or not the numbers on the dyno sheet is enough for the user to notice a difference between a mikuni and a lectron is another story.

Follow the money trail....
Prolly get the Lectron's cheaper and get same performance as Mikuni....and charge end users the same $$.

Re: Whose gonna go with a lectron?
The lectron carbs been around awhile. There used alot in in the motocross world n are big power makers in that type of use plus there easy to tune. But on the other hand there expensive n probably overkill for a mudmotor unless ur trying to make 60 hp with ur stage 4 kits. Wink wink

Re: Whose gonna go with a lectron?
So the kit from bps is like 820$ or something. So this one is 495 + 350 for the intake + whatever for the throttle cable/filter and whatever else.

Whose gonna go with a lectron?
I'm going to make a list of the pros and cons of the 38 MM Lectrons vs the 42 MM Mikuni. There are quite a few pros over the Mikuni. One of the things I can promise you, is the 42 Mikuni will not even come close to the Lectrons on the bottom end power and mid range power, and how smooth the engine runs. It's ran for 8 hrs a day straight with out a hiccup for the flood rescue. Some with Mikunis were having problems with engine killing and it accepting throttle when smashed to get out of the swift current. Lectrons performed flawlessly

Re: Whose gonna go with a lectron?
Nobody is doubting the carbs. Like others said, if y'all switched there's a reason. I think the main jist is would it be worth it to replace your Mikuni.

Re: Whose gonna go with a lectron?
I'm not saying that, if that's how it sounded, I apologize. I was just giving some positives on it. One of the things that we at Delta Performance like out of our engines is torque. The Lectrons definitely out torques the 42 Mikuni! As for as worth it for switching, that's going to be up to the end users. I don't like to push products on people. I will only give the advantages and disadvantages of the products we test and use.

Re: Whose gonna go with a lectron?
Mikuni's are cheaply built, and a pain to tune. Lectron has been around a long time I used them on my drag bike years ago and they were the easiest carb I have tuned. I can say that the prices Delta are selling these for compared to the Mikuni carb and kits it's worth the extra money you won't regret it. You look into the race world of carbs and Mikuni isn't even on the list ,why bc they are harder to tune for each track application and not consistent. Going from pilot jet sizes to needle jets, slide cut always and so on who has time for that when you want the engine running at its best. If you want more power and reliability / less fuel consumption for those long runs to the duck blind or fishing hole, it's simple trash the Mikuni and get a Lectron

Re: Whose gonna go with a lectron?
The mikuni carb is fine and they make power but I see what delta is trying to do with the lectron. The mikuni 42HSR has been the staple for a while now but its a little big for the power were making with these engines and sometimes produces a weak signal depending on the intake and flow of the heads causing the user to have to jet up higher than normal. I haven't run the lectron but it seems like a good idea to try one due to the carb bore being tapered and the metering rod location creating velocity and helping the engine pick up/atomize the fuel charge better than a mikuni. I'm sure some of you will get what I saying and some will argue but these carbs seem better than a mikuni from what ive read.
having said all that im still gonna stay with my mikuni for a while cause its too close to duck season to start dumping money in my motor again.

Re: Whose gonna go with a lectron?
^^^^. This , I have been reading up on them. , jet less. , NOJETS , I'm looking at the. 32-34 mm about 3-400$ range new from lectron. To try on this small block. I currently am running a 34 round slide mikuni. Re jetted pilot and main , huge main jet. , that I fight a rich condition all the time. , this may be just the ticket for me. Looks to be a much better carb on paper.

Re: Whose gonna go with a lectron?
I will be going with one. I am on the list. For the naysayers or doubters, just be patient like those who are waiting in line to get one. Once the reviews come out we will see where things fall in line. With some of this "KIT", we aren't comparing apples to apples. The DPE Intake Adapter is a highly customized piece and not comparable to other intake adapters whatever you are running. Delta also promises no necessary rework or fitting. The adapter is ready, and if you look on their Facebook page, yea, the price might seem high, but you get what you pay for. If you already have a Mikuni, I would think you have all the necessary parts to switch carbs only. I don't know what performance would be like, but I 'm sure Calen and Jaimie would work with anybody on this, and then you could turn around and sell the Mikuni. Or not. Let's wait and see how these things work out. They have plenty enough people willing to be the guinea pig on this and I am one of them. I also think some of our community understands what Delta is doing and has going for them, and some of the community; I can see its just over their head.

Didn't people once complain of limited options. I don't even have a carb motor and think that DPE offering something new with actual run data is great. Competition breeds improvement.

If the kits are $900, would you be able to buy just the carb if you already have the intake adapter for a cheaper price?

I'm all about improving and innovating beyond what the accepted norm has been....I probably could have saved a lot of money, time and headache to go with the accepted norms...but, through that process of innovation, trial and lots of error....I am where I am with my motor...and the restrictions I have to contend with where I hunt.

Re: Whose gonna go with a lectron?
Yes you will be able to buy the carb by itself. The Lectrons with fit in any intake adapter that is offered now with a carb boot change. We are working on 2 different size plenum adapters for our intakes. The reason behind this is for the existing 42 MM carbs and also for the new 38 MM Lectrons. The plenum for the 38 MM will be tapered down in the ID of the adapter for streamline flow. The adapters that we have released on the market already are fit for the 42 MM streamline. The plus about our intake design is that with just the plenum change it will fit both
