You Prodrive gents ever seen the clutch locating bolts,"the long 5/16 bolts that just drop in" ride up and dig into engine sump? They dug in pretty hard and likely cracked sump housing.

Did they not get seated properly when the powerhead was dropped in place? Only way I could see that happening.

The bolts shouldn't take a beating under normal circumstances, and I can't figure out how setting the power head down the them out of line would bend them. The only thing I can think of is they set the power head down and started tightening the 4 main bolts with those clutch aligning bolts in the wrong spot.

never seen them "ride" up.

If they are seated, they stay seated-gravity makes sure of it.

They should be free-not in a bind. That is the only way I can see it doing that-if they were in a bind and got stuck up somehow.

I do seem to recall years ago making some sort of mistake when reinstalling and getting them in a bind, but just can't remember what it was or what I did. Had to pull everything back apart and reset...

Good luck sorting it out.

The only way they got bent was when the power head/top plate was put back on, the bolts didn't get seated through the bottom plate. The big mounting bolts were tightened up bending the bolts. That's probably what cracked the tub. Vibration simply washed out the area that cracked.
