Post Zincs for Running in Salt Water
I will be running my boat in primarily salt water. Have any of you guys installed zincs on your lower units? If so what should I be looking for?

Zinc anodes, sacrificial anode, are for if you are keeping or storing boat in the salt water but they do work. they sale them, just google them.

Should I attach one to the hull and the motor?

Plastic instead of carpet bunks is the key along with a good wash down. I've been running my GT hull for 7 years in saltwater with no issues.

Yes the anodes need to be attached so that they are in the water at all times or as much as possible! On transom is a good place for on the boat. I would say that somewhere on the skeg for the motor and if placed proper might even help with torque issues. When I was in Uncle Sams Finest Nuclear Canoe Club, I ran 19 ft. RHIB's with 115 Evinrudes, we added a round bowl shaped one on top of the cavitation plate on the motor.

Trailer came with plastic on the bunks, so I'm half way there! Guess I'll buy a zinc that can bolt through the holes in the lower unit. Don't know how I'm gonna attach on to the stern though... maybe weld a lug to bolt to?

I thought long and hard about this issue too Rosstree but haven't had an issue on my motor or hull. I have no sacrificial anodes. If you're that worried just put one on the motor and be done with it.

Just an fyi. AL over zinc for salt/brackish water. they perform better, last longer, weigh less and cost less.
