 1838 vs 1844
Hi I have a 1436 riveted Jon boat with a backwater 13 hp. It's a good setup for just me. I am looking at getting bigger rig. I was thinking a 1838 or 1844 or 2044 go devil skiff with a backwater 35hp. I hunt in the marsh in ditches that are about 50-60 ft wide so the length of the boat is not a factor. I dont know witch boat is best

 Re: 1838 vs 1844
I had an 1844 and overall it performed well on the Mississippi backwaters and main channel up here. The bottom width is 44 on the flat, throw in the round chine and it gets a bit wider. If you jump into a surface drive later you will appreciate the extra width. So an 1844 or 2044 would be ideal.

 Re: 1838 vs 1844
I would go wider . I've got a 36" wide boat and gets a little tippy at times for me
