 New Motor Question
I recently purchased a brand new 13 hp Beavertail long tail for my boat. I've taken it out 3 times now and have had the same problem each time.
When I first launch and start running, the motor will peter out and die every few minutes. It acts like it's not getting enough fuel. It will run longer at idle, but when I start increasing the throttle it will die. Made for a rough trip to our spot Sunday morning when we had to keep stopping to start the engine and put along for 45 min. The engine will start right back up right away and fine but when I drop it into the water and increase the throttle it doesn't last long.
The kicker is, and what has me stumped... is the last 2 weeks all I can think about is how we are going to fix the boat when we get home after hunting. Well.. when we start up to leave, it runs perfect all the way back to the boat ramp. Full throttle, doesn't die once! It's done this same thing the last 2 times we've been out.
I have a call into Beavertail and waiting to hear back as he is going to call Vanguard. Just wondering if any of you have heard of this problem or have a simple fix/guidance?

 Re: New Motor Question
Check all your fuel line connections and if your using quick connects throw them in the trash.

 Re: New Motor Question
Check your vent for the fuel tank. Wether it's in the cap, or on the tank. (If so equipped). Try running with the cap loose if the vent is in the tank. Also play with the choke too if need be.

 Re: New Motor Question
Check fuel flow by pumping up your primer bulb. when it starts to die pump the primer bulb, if engine recovers, start checking for tank venting, leaking connections, and also try disconnecting fuel line from output of fuel pump. It should "pulse" fuel out, and should be a good amount, when just turning the engine over.
