Stage 2 prodrive 2 blade prop
I just got my engine modded by the boat dr but I am hitting the rev limiter at full throttle trimmed slightly down. I got heads cam carb and just waiting for my voodoo exhaust which I would expect to bump me up in the Rpms even more. I have a gen 3 and I will hit 30-32 2 person load and dog. Looking for someone with a similar setup who worked there prop and what results did you get.

Re: Stage 2 prodrive 2 blade prop
I've got a level 3 (stage 2) Delta Performance build on my gen 4. I'm currently running the hammer prop and I love it. Granted you're gonna need a good bit of cup and pitch on that gen 3, but it's a good prop.
What prop are you running now? I know those shovels have a crap ton of pitch and cup in them.

What rpms are you turning with your current setup at 30-32 mph?

Re: Stage 2 prodrive 2 blade prop
I'm running the stock 2 blade prop right now. I'm at 4700 Rpms hitting 30-32 shallow water. Runs a constant 28-29 deep water. Against wind. Only took boat out twice sense I got the mods, I'll Be hunting tomorrow morning to get more numbers. Also my boat is 16x56 alweld center console.

Are you running a power tech prop or the shovel prop?

Re: Stage 2 prodrive 2 blade prop
You are sure you motor is a gen 3 right? Cuz if you do have a gen 3 you have that 2:1 gear ratio.

I bought the engine new in March of 2013 so I assumed it was a gen 3. Could be a gen 2

Re: Stage 2 prodrive 2 blade prop
You would need the build date of the motor. 2013 models were a gen 3, but IDK that they ran power tech props on them because of the 2:1 gear ratio. Your prop doesn't look anywhere near pitched enough for a gen 3. They had a 3 blade and a 2 blade shovel.
Reason you need to make sure is that on a gen 3 the shovel prop is the best you're gonna get. On any other gen PD even with a level 3 kit you can't turn the shovel....I know....I've tried.

Re: Stage 2 prodrive 2 blade prop
I'll look for the paper work and see what it is for sure. If it is a shovel prop, should I just add a little pitch or cup to it and call it a day?

Re: Stage 2 prodrive 2 blade prop
That prop in the pic is a power tech prop. It's most definitely not a shovel. The shovel is a round ear type prop with a 16 pitch stock and tons of cup. They don't look anything like the power tech's.

I think I see a tapered bushing in there....that may be a Gen II LU.
That's what I call the tulip prop.

The black prop is the PD Shovel prop and the silver is the MB Hammer.

Re: Stage 2 prodrive 2 blade prop
On my level 3 I'm running the hammer prop and I love it. Not the fastest prop I have, but it eats like a mofo and it gets on a plane fast. Here's a video of me testing it out in some stuff. https://youtu.be/ljZyace3Ulw

When did PD start making the shovel props? Every PD prop I have seen has had tip curl.

Re: Stage 2 prodrive 2 blade prop
Nope don't want one, just a bit behind on the what they been switching around. It looks a lot like the MB ones back in the day and anything involving PT is a crap shoot.

Re: Stage 2 prodrive 2 blade prop
As far as I have heard they based the shovel from the hammer prop. The PT props haven't been good as of late, lots of slung blades, especially on worked ones. I've got 3 that I'm afraid to run because they've let me down already.

Re: Stage 2 prodrive 2 blade prop
Went hunt this morning, boat runs a solid 29 deep water. 30 shallow with 2 185 pound guys, 45 pound dog, 5dozon decoys, and gear. Prop has to be trimmed down to run 4650-4690 Rpms which is what I get those speeds at. I'll be adding the voodoo this week or next and I'll be getting a prop or getting prop work done after I take the boat out and see what Rpms she's turning. Would a hammer prop or a worked stock prop be better for top end and all around performance?

Re: Stage 2 prodrive 2 blade prop
No question between the PT and the Hammer. PT's have been known to sling blades when worked, the hammer is a tough ass prop. As far as performance the PT will be faster, but it won't perform anywhere near the Hammer in the nasty stuff.

Re: Stage 2 prodrive 2 blade prop
So the prop Mudman is running is a PT? When did they PD start contracting with PT? It looks the same as the PD prop I have been running since Hopkins built them for PD back in the day.

Re: Stage 2 prodrive 2 blade prop
I guess I didn't clarify what I was questioning. The prop Mudman is running looks exactly the same as the props that were on the PDs back about a decade ago, except 27 had a cleaver style. I am just wondering at what time PD started sourcing through PT? The reason I ask is that I have had a couple reworked PD props and the last one went almost 4 yrs before slinging a blade.

Re: Stage 2 prodrive 2 blade prop
So, I'm guessing Chris is rebroaching the 7/8 threaded Hammer with maybe an insert or something? Wonder if he has something similar for the Gen II LU's??
