Questions about mods to my 36hp PD
Dont know a lot about motors, got a 36 hp PD this last season on a 16 ft Big john by Lowe. Normally hunt with 3-4 guys and gear. Love the motor, but here I can modify it for more HP and power. Have been to Extreme V twins web site. Appreciate any advise on what to do to got more out of my motor Thanks CJK

My advice would be to call EVT and discuss what your looking for with them and see what they have to say. They know what each stage is capable of and what you can expect.

And if you hunt 3-4 guys and gear all the time you might consider a longer hull which would also help some with a load.

Re: Questions about mods to my 36hp PD
Hey thanks for the info on EVT,"if it had been a snake!" I`m new to these parts, it probably won`t be my last dumb question. I had a PD 36 and I plan on gettin another, this info will come in handy. I`ve got a 2005 GT 31 I`ll be selling if anyone is interested,it might be a little while for the PD, I`ve got to see if the government plans on stimulatin me.

Oh, if you gots a job and you pays taxes you gonna get stimulated alright, but it ain't gonna feel good. You just wait and see.
Seriously, we might see a little something here in a few months but in about a year or so those taxes gonna start creeping up fast.

Re: Questions about mods to my 36hp PD
i have a 17x54 with a 36.
my mods are mildly ported heads by me, shaved at a local machine shop and i installed stainless valves and a marshmellow exhaust.
Stock my boat ran 28 in deep water never got speeds in shallow. i assume a gain about 1-2 mph as you can feel it pick up speed.
with me, 210lbs and my podna 260 and his son about 90 all our hunting gear and my 90lb lab it runs 25-26 deepwater....that was stock..
now after the heads i touch 30mph actually 29.8 in deepwater....
4 grownups all about over the 200lb mark and 4 batteries and a little froggin gear with a 48 quart full of beverages it ran 25mph deepwater.
it runs on average 1-2mph faster with heads and exhaust, and runs a solid 3mph faster with a load....
this is allmost touching the rev limiter...actually by myself i have to trim it downa a little extra so i dont hit it...

Chances are if he hasn't done it yet after 3 years, he stayed stock.
