Are you saying that your compression gauge leaked to 0 ??

Yes the gauge leaked to 0. Its was holding 140 on both cylinders yesterday but I had cranked to engine earlier so it may have been because it was warm. but this morning on a cold engine they both leaked down to zero.

A compression gauge shouldnt be leaking. It's a one way valve until you push the pressure release button.

Valve in gauge assembly needs to be replaced most likely. Had one did the same thing, mine had 2, one in the end that screws into plug hole and one under gauge fitting(that was leaking). Took a valve core from a trailer spare valve that was flat.

Got a new gauge and compression is good. Did a leak down test and no leaks. When it bogs down it sounds like its missing. I'm going to change the coils and check the wiring harness. Hopefully that will solve the problem.

Ok once again another problem. I put the new coils on, gapped correctly but the engine will not crank. I've tried unplugging the kill wire still won't crank. Am I missing something? I didn't have my fire tester but new coils should be firing right.

Is it possible to put them on backwards? Put an extra plug on the plug wire, lay it on metal, spin it to check for spark

Sorry won't start it turns over. I put them one the same way the old ones came off. I have a spark tester i'm going to try this evening. But what are the odds both coils are bad?

Also you say you unplug the kill wire.... you need to unplug both coils at the coils in case your diode is bad if its even old enough to have a diode

Ok I figured out I have the wrong coils. I have coils for a 35hp but my engine is a 37hp and apparently take different coils on each cylinder. I ordered the new ones from B&S.

How is that even possible lol? the 37 EFI's use a Crank position Sensor that bolts to the #1 cylinder (armature studs) and the ECM fires the coils in relation to crank angle.
35's have a Magnetron ignition system with 2 armatures and a magnet....Before you start ordering parts Consult someone with some knowledge. Feel free to call me. Also if you have a 37 its under warranty... Let your local dealer mess with it man. If you start dicking around and screw something up your warranty is no longer valid.

I've had a guy work on my motor and he replaced the head gaskets they where blown. but still no fix im pretty sure they have blown again. He seems to think the heads are warped. What do you guys think?

The guy said they weren't torqued properly but he torqued them correctly when he put them back on. But he didn't not check them with a straight edge. He also said the problem may be the cam, could that be?

Do a leakdown test and that will tell you if you have any sealing issues.

You really need to find a mechanic that knows these motors.
