Post 2014 pro drive problems
i have a 2014 pro drive with a 35hp vanguard. the motor seems to be only firing on one cylinder I've checked the valves and and both valves are working, I've cleaned the carb, I've wrapped the plug wires, I'm at loss on what to check next. any help would be appreciated.

when i put it in the water it boggs down real bad and won't hardly move

Sounds like a coil crapped out

You need to confirm that you are firing on both cylinders.
If only 1 is firing, then swap spark plugs and see if that same cylinder is still misfiring.
If not, then it is just a bad plug, if it still isn't making fire, then like stated above, probably is a coil.

If both cylinders are firing, then you still have a dirty carb.

You say you cleaned the carb, but did you actually take the jets out of the carb and clean them?

Horizontal engine on a vertical frame? That could cause an issue.

first check fire on each cylinder. If both are good, make sure you didn't accidentally bump the plastic a/f screws on the stock carb. They have stops, but if broken off, can play havoc. If all of that is correct, you need to pull the carb and rod out the jets. Waaaayyyy back when I had a stock carb, I had some varnish built up in one of the main jets. Would idle ok, but when you hit the throttle, it would spit and sputter. By just spraying the carb from the outside, doesn't get it all out. If you have fire, I bet this is it.

The engine is only running on one cylinder. I've pulled the plug wire on the cylinder that isn't running and the motor stays running but I pull the opposite and it dies, I pulled the dead cylinder plug and put a spark plug in it and grounded it and fired the motor off and it was sparking. Also I pulled the valve cover of the dead clyinder and turned the engine over and both valves are stroking, I pulled the carb and cleaned the carb and put it back on and still the same thing, went back to plug wires and wrapped them and the same thing..

Its a long shot on the coil being bad. Aside from poss fuel issues, i would check the valve adjustments. Its possible that u have a valve too tight not allowing it to seal. Aside from the above i would then do a leakdown test to determine poss burnt valve or popped headgasket, are you positive that your carb jets are clean... and idle fuel circut...

Thanks for yalls input.. I'm gonna try and get a leak down test done. Another question is if the head gasket were bad would it show signs of oil?

In your earlier post. You said you changed a spark plug and it was firing.
Was that a typo?
If not, then it sound like you just have a bad spark plug.

Yeah I changed both spark plugs and both plugs where firing. I was thinking if the coil was bad then it wouldn't spark at all right?

Had a motor yrs back that was giving me fits like this. Was told from a shop that a coil is either good or bad. Both plugs would spark when pulled n held against block but motor would not run worth a crap. Was only running on one cyl. I ended up getting a new coil and it ran like a top after that.
