 Grinding when in idle
When I disengage my PTO on my 27hp prodrive it makes a grinding sound. I engage it and it seems fine. I was cruising on the lake with it tonight and turned it off. Started it and it made that light grinding sound. It also starts with barely turning the key now. Any ideas what it could be?

 Re: Grinding when in idle
Prodrive clutches have something like a brake stop. The gap on your clutch may not be big enough, causing it to rub like that while in neutral. Also, what year is the motor?

 Re: Grinding when in idle
I don't think there is much of a fix. Im not exactly sure. Im in the process right now of changing out my clutch. I wouldn't let it bother you if it goes away while in gear.

 Re: Grinding when in idle
Does it have hydro reverse? Only time we've bad an issue like that, there was a washer missing on the hydro ram causing something to be unlevel. I think your clutch is fucked.

It's a manual reverse. I'm thinking clutch. Slight turns of key and it wants to fire right up like its way more sensitive.

You should be shopping for a new clutch. Hearing that sound is the tell-tale sign.
