 gatortail 37xd Delta lvl 3 1854 cc
This is my second modded gtr and just curious as to why im getting my best speeds at 4350rpms? Running in the neighborhood of 30-32mph with two guys, fishing gear, and 10 gal of gas with the worked merc three blade. Have yet to run empty. Before i got the merc three blade i was running a two blade and seeing the same speeds. Curious if its a prop deal, or something that should be expected rpm wise. my last rig was a 1754 gtr and i would see my best speeds around 4650-4700rpms.

Sounds like a heavy boat?

The prettiest rooster tail is not necessarily the best speed! When I have mine with that nice rooster I loose speed, so trimming down a little - gains speeds, lover the height of rooster tail, and lowers rpms.

In my experience 3 blades run better in the 42-4300 range and 2 blades run on the higher side. That's just an observation on my boat, Which is pretty much the same setup.

Every boat is different. People are hung up on speed... Mud motors are not fast on big heavy boats carrying a lot of weight. Factors to check, Tilt pin high enough so you can over trim to make sure you reach the right trim, Valve lash to make sure they valves are seating, and then leakdown test. If the valves are not sealing power is on the table. I know you said new motor, But I seen many new motors with valve leakage issues. First an foremost if you had Delta mod the engine and its not doing what you expected, call Delta. Myself as a shop owner find it intriguing that most will resort to the internet for opinions rather than get an answer from the horse's mouth. Give them a chance to speak to you. I know Calen and Jamie are busy as am I myself, But a phone call goes a LONG way to make sure the customer is happy.

I know they would be more than happy to explain, I'd just hate to call them over something that could be so simple. I saw first hand how busy they are last week and I'd hate to waste their time when it could just be a simple answer. They've went above and beyond to help me already multiple times so I know it wouldn't be an issue. Thanks for the response. I'm not expecting 40mph, and the speeds I'm running now are good for me. I was just wondering why I was getting best speeds at lower rpms then I've expierienced previously.
