Clutch fails to engage when switch is activated
My clutch failed to engage today when I activated the switch. I have confirmed that the switch is in good working order. I have 115 hours on the motor.
Increasing RPM's did cause the clutch to engage.
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Clutch fails to engage when switch is activated
might sound silly, but might be a bad battery connection. take wires completely off battery, clean the posts, and reinstall. a bad connection with a voltage drop will play hell on that clutch, especially at low rpm's.
good luck!!

Check the red wire on the key switch... its not in the main harness... it comes from the voltage regulator... I will say it came unplugged. Exact symptoms of what happens.

Re: Clutch fails to engage when switch is activated
The retaining ring on my ignition switch vibrated off, and I just re-installed the ignition switch. I may have loosened that wire in the process. The motor is a couple hours from my home, and I am going up to check the things discussed here. I will report back on what I find, so others may benefit. Thank you for responding and offering me the help.

I'm having the same issue. can you post a pic of the piece that came loose? I don't know what I'm looking at electrically.

Re: Clutch fails to engage when switch is activated
I just got back from working on my motor. I polished up the battery connection, which looked fine, and I could see the red wire on the key switch (mine is on the top, slightly to the right when looking at the switch from the rear) so I reached in with a needle nose plyer and wiggled the connection. After that I could not get the clutch to fail, even one time. I realize that I need to take that switch out and clean the connection properly (all connections on the switch), but for now I think problem solved.
I am a long way from most of you guys and I am the only Gator-Tail guy I know of around here. so being able to come here for solutions is much appreciated.
