Any of yall fishing it or been fishing big Sam lately?

had a tourney there this past weekend. caught early on red crankbaits but once fog burned off had to slow way down with soft plastics. big bass of tourney was an 8.65 that came off a bed sight fishing

i fished it last year and am taking a pass on it this year. My little girl's bday is the saturday of the tournament and was just too much trouble to do both last year. I'll be at the big bass bonanza on pines in may though!

skipping it as well to take the old man turkey hunting and hopfully get his first Rio.

Depending on where you are on the lake will depend on if they are in pre-spawn, spawn, or post spawn patterns. I'm willing to bet the winning fish comes off a bed. The lake has some of the best grass I've seen on it in years. I haven't been on the lake in a couple of weeks, but the water was REALLY stained on the Ash Bayou arm of the lake from Powell Park up. The best water was in Veach, Coleman, and little Coleman. 5 fingers also had some decent looking water in it. If it were me, I'd fish the ditches and drains off shore in 10-6' of water for one bite. Senkos, lizards, and swim baits were working for us.

From what I can tell there are quite a few people sitting this one out. I know nothing about bass so I can't help ya.... I like trash fishin at night.

I've been workin' on the number 500 SAL and the new lake record ..... I've had her on twice .... but that don't count !!!!!

Don't rekon it's gonna happen tho ..... thay gots a un-official SAL from O.H. Ivy the other day thats probly gonna be number 500 ..... 500 bucks a pound !!!!!! with some other goodies to go with it ...... sho wished that could have been me .......

I wouldn't give a crap if I caught #500 or not. I'd just be happy with ONE SAL no matter what number................matrfact! TESTIFY!

I be's down at the Holy Waters ...... I really don't thank she gonna produce the next SAL .... altho a feller gots him one Tues that wayed 12.33 !!!! .. but dang I'm puttin' the catch on some nice BlackBass rite now .... not rite now-now .... but here in a few minutes I'll be there !!!

Looks like I should have fished it and skipped turkey hunting........was rained out, out West!
