Post MB 5500 mag with Jamie b. Heads or Gtr
I've had a few mudbuddy motors that have treated me well. With that being said, I've been thinking about upgrading to the Gtr soon. But with this new HDR coming out soon, I was thinking of getting a 5500 mag with Jamie b. Headwork, and then waiting til this HDR kit comes out next year. Thoughts? I know a lot of you guys are pro gtr and against mudbuddy. But I can honestly say they've been solid motors for me. I like the fact that the 5500 is heavily modded already. Should I make the switch or what?

Mb doesn't sell the mag motors anymore. If you are buying new from them you can only get heads/carb/exhaust.(black death). You would have to have the internals installed elsewhere. But with that said the 55 mag is a bad motor scooter, and I think the hdr would be a fine decision.

Is the cost now and then the cost then something you want to absorb? If that's acceptable, just make sure the 5500 you're looking at is in acceptable shape for what you're paying, and roll with it. The HD frame is as reliable as the others, and if you want the hdr when it's available, then you have your answer. If you want the hydraulic reverse gtr offers, then go with that.

Now my thoughts are just buy a new HDR and mod it like a 5500. I guess that would be like a stage 3? Has anyone done this to an EFI?

I've been thinking the same thing! I have a MB 45mag that I've modded to a 55mag.. The new HDR looks badass and I'd like to look into buying the outdrive and putting my motor on it... I'm sure it wouldn't be cheap, but I only have 150hrs on my MB and it has treated me really well...

You might see a benefit from heads, exhaust, and cam, but it will be short lived unless you can adjust the mix.. Right now that is not a readily available option.
