Post New build
Hate that I waited soo long to start it with season already here but I need a boat! But at least I won't be workin on it in the middle of summer!

Going to be a 2054 CC w/ 3/16 bottom and a little different side crimp (excel crimp). 24" sides, deck with gun boxes in it and thinking about a back deck too instead of hunt deck. With a 35 GTR. I think I'm actually going to do some mods to this one (pretty sure I'm going to have to).

I will post a few pictures as it comes along.

I'm hoping it's going to be a head turner, but going to be hard to do with all the good looking hulls out now!

Cant wait to see the progress on it man. That's a whole lot of boat for a single motor, but I believe you can make it work. Just throw some more money at it! keep us posted!

I wish you well on this build. I'm gonna follow this closely. Have you built one before? If not, prepare yourself for unexpected turns. Get yourself a thinking chair and sit in it offen. Don't rush.

Hey, I'm 61 and can't remember every damn poster or what he's done. I'm over 10k posts so forgive me for not noticing. I definitely appreciate a DIY project. Now, if I see a f..k up I'm gonna blast him.

Did you design this hull in cad program or are the demensions of your bottom plate just your best guess based on what has worked in the past? Post up your plan drawings if you have them for those who might want to see how some of these hulls are designed.

68" to inside and square chine. Yeah that 3" makes it look a lot bigger.

Must be camera angle because I checked it over and over again and it's surprisingly true.

Here is a question for some of you that have done this.

When building a square chine, is there an advantage to welding the sides to the floor rather than ordering the wider sheets and bending the sides up?

Let's see a profile pic of the sheer line..you know a pic from the side. From this perspective it looks hogged but it may be because of the perspective.

The tricky area with these aluminum flats, I'm sure, is the transition point from flat to stem rise and what it does to the side panel. Too sharp and it will bump out causing unsightly transition. I"ve seen it on production models, too, and wonder whey the manufacturers would not have been addressed it in the design statges.

Yup we have a 10' CNC and various types of hand brakes. I have access to a 20ft 10 gauge brake that I would use, if I were to want to brake bend it.

Maybe you could back to back bend the edge with two bends half of the total. Should prevent cracking, though I am unsure of performance related problems.

Surely you have probably seen these. http://www.wuko.at/en/produkte/bending/3350-duo-bender/
I made one that is long enough to bend 33" for field bending large stainless pans. I have the dies mounted on eccentric shafts for material thickness changes.

At some point, I would like to build one. I have been trying to learn as much as possible before taking on the task.
