Need to put something on trailer guides to help boat slide
I need to put something on my trailer guides to help the boat slide easier on and off. What do you guys recommend? Rollers the only way to go?

There's a thread floating around somewhere on here where this dumbass put rain gutters over his bunks. Worked pretty damn good and was cheap though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I went to home Depot and bought a half sheet of starboard and a bunch of #10 stainless screws. Then Cut the starboard into strips, drilled and countersunk screw holes, routed the edges. Boat slides right off.

Re: Need to put something on trailer guides to help boat sli
I had to buy new bunks that came with carpet, went ahead and put the slick pads over that, my steelflexed hull really slides quick now off/on, have to be careful to keep it clipped on the trailer when backing down, now only the ends of the bunks get wet. Much easier to crank it back on too. I just check that the screws holding down the pads are seated down. Cost for pads was $30.

I'm going to use one of those white 4x4 pvc fence posts and rip it in half, one half for each bunk.

They were the EZ slide pads...figure if they last a couple of seasons, they were well worth it! No more straining to push off a fully loaded duck boat.

Re: Need to put something on trailer guides to help boat sli
I understand that Gator Glide is probably the best way to go, but I don't have time to disassemble my boat and flip it right now. Sooooo do I put slides on my bunks or put rollers on my trailer? Gator Glide will have to wait tell off season.

Re: Need to put something on trailer guides to help boat sli
If you have a used restaurant supply nearby you can usually get 3/4 large used cutting boards I used them before I put steel flex on my boat they are super slick mount them with SS countersunk trim screws

Re: Need to put something on trailer guides to help boat sli
Cut the 4x4 PVC today and screwed them down w SS screws. Beveled the leading edge a little and look great. an 8' one cost 24 bucks at lowes and does both bunks

Re: Need to put something on trailer guides to help boat sli
I slice strips out of old drop-in pick-up bedliners. Stainless screws through the valley between the ridges hold the strips to the bunks. I get the old bedliners from an outfit that removes them to do spray-in liners. Really slick and inexpensive.

Re: Need to put something on trailer guides to help boat sli
The bedliner strips along with GG make my 24 X 60 a snap to load and unload. I routinely do it alone and I'm 76.

Re: Need to put something on trailer guides to help boat sli
Get the composite cap boards and #10 Stainless screws. Drill and counter sink. I back the trailer into the water and then the boat slides right off. It cost 50.00 and some change for the composite capping and screws.
