 Go Devil trouble
Hey guys, take a look at this pic and let me know what is my best option in trying to fix this. I was on my way home from building blinds and oil starting leaking. When I got to the launch this was the cause of the leak. If you look at the bottom right of the motor you can see the inch long crack at the bottom of the motor. WHat do you guys think is my best option?

That pic is REALLY zoomed in. I was having a hard time with it. The only crack I could see looked like it was below the engine in the frame, but that could just be a scratch. I'm guessing its in the block below the case gasket? If so, you can get a new oil sump. Seen one for a kohler on ebay for 75 bucks the other day. Don't know what a briggs would run ya.

 Re: Go Devil trouble
you can get that welded and it will fix it right up. let me ask this does your handle bolt through the frame and up through those 2 motor mounts or does your handle bolt underneath the motor in the center with 4 bolts?. because if its the one that bolt through the motor mounts you need to get rid of that handle and get the style that bolts underneath. i had the exact problem with my 27hp godevil LT awhile back and i broke mine in the same spot pushing down on the handle and it ended up breaking a piece off the motor that the handle bolted to. i called and talked to coco about it and that is what he suggested to me get it welded and get the other handle because they have had alot of issues with it busting the case.

 Re: Go Devil trouble
i know you know this but remind the guy whoever is doing it to CLEAN IT VERY GOOD. we had a hell of a time getting it welded with no little leaks. after we welded it we used a air compressor and set it low and blew some air into the oil drain hole and put some soapy water where the weld was and everytime we was getting bubbles until we finally got it. so i would advise u to be there when he welds it and do some testing to make sure its not leaking because the welders around here dont wanna go back and redo it for free. i actually took mine to a shop first and that was the problem i ran into, the weld looked good so i took it home put it all together put some oil in it and whaddya know it was leaking and he wasnt doing it agian.
