As many of you know, I picked up a new performance cam from GT last week. Today did some preliminary installation planing. I remove the clutch cover to discover the disassembly of the drive belt, clutch and reverse is not intuitive at all. If someone would be so kind as to explain the process I'd appreciate it.

The following statement kinda goes along with Keith's cam install post. If ya don't know how to get to the 1st step in the directions, ya probably shouldn't be trying to do the mods by yourself. In other words, if ya can't even get the belt drive off, do ya honestly believe ya can install a cam on ya own?

Got to learn somehow camo... It's not that hard once you get into it, just take your time and make sure you put everything back the way it came off.

The best way to learn how to fix somethin is to fuk it up first.

Your not rebuildin an auto transmission, its a briggs and stratton on a rubber band.

The crankcase/cam part looks easy. Not sure how to disasemble the clutch/reverse from the crankshaft. There is a bolt at the very end. Do I start with that. I'll post pics tomorrow for reference.

use a impact the bolt will come right out. slide the brake rotor off and theres 6 allen bolts in there, pull the shaft out its about 4 inches long and keyed. then your going to have to pry the pully and clutch off in one piece. correct me if wrong.

also, pull the belt off while pulling the clutch off and put it on in the installation process to avoid taking the lower drive system out.

Thanks so much. I have a puller I used to pull off the fly wheel.

So I unscew the bolt then the reverse disc and its attachments will slide off. What will remain is the belt gear and clutch and I pull that off the crankshaft with the puller. It seems I should first release tension on the belt by loosening the engine from the frame first. Yes or no?

yes. and that flywheel puller wont work use to pry bars and take your time.

Prybars and patience do not go together well with me. Should be interesting.

Some of y'all just don't get it. Life is the journey. I build my own boats so what do you expect of me. I spent many years educating myself, making sacrifices early on so I could reap benefits today. So while some of you forkers were getting drunk and not doing your homework my arse was in study mode. So I can do stuff like build my own boats, produce and record artists, and educate my children in the finest schools, and most of all be happy, without worry. Just sayin...

Since I was one of those who got drunk and didn't study, I can tell you who we did it.
First you take your trailer and hook it to your vehicle and then take a chain and wrap it
around the drive assembly and use your other vehicle to pull it off. A 25 foot chain with a lot
of slack and just hit the gas on the vehicle that has the chain to it should do the job.
