Post how much to deck heads
I know this has been tossed around some on here after searching the forums for info. I never ran across some solid numbers. Does anyone know what compression = how much decking.
Say you wanted to run no more than 9.5 :1...how much would you deck the heads?
I may be wrong but on pump gas you should not go over 10:1 correct?

I understand your point and agree. Just trying to figure out how much compression some of these .060 decked heads are running vs lets say .025

What if you took a 10:1 motor and made it pull in 1.5 cups? would 1.5 x 200= BOOM?

im no mechanic but it sounds like if you leave your heads stock you would have more power, just put a cam exhaust and carb and be done with it...correct?

Both will make more power. Do both together and make a lot more power.

The point of my post was simply to see if anyone knew what kind of compression was being run from say .060 decked heads and say .025 decked heads since I have read those numbers allot on here. Stock compression according to vangaurds web site says 8.2 to 1. ( http://www.vanguardengines.com/vanguard ... al%20Shaft

Make sure you have plenty of silicone , it holds up better than stock gaskets and hugs the contours of the grind if not done evenly.
