Heads, cam, exhaust...My .02
This topic has been just about beat to death. Lots of info here if you use the search feature. FYI anything than can be done to the 35 mb, gt, or gd can be done to the 36.

Re: Thinking about hopping up my 36hp PD
Believe there is only one set of jets for the stock carb. You can drill them out if you wish, but not really necessary. There is a few things you can do to the stock carb and intake to cut down on turbulence if you want. You could also upgrade to a mikuni carb. I kinda like the stock gov set up, but will probably switch over to a mikuni sooner or later.
Don't know what you were asking on the exhaust. Marshmellow has a few options, and BPS has at least one, maybe two.

Re: Thinking about hopping up my 36hp PD
The exhaust run 400-500 depending on what you get. Heads can run anywhere from 150 bucks to 700 or so depending on who does the work and what all you have done. Where are you from?

Re: Thinking about hopping up my 36hp PD
Stage 1 consists of different things depending on who does the work. Usually cam, heads, and exhaust, or carb, heads, and exhaust. Where are you located? Are you comfortable doing the work yourself or would you need to take it somewhere to have it worked on?

Re: Thinking about hopping up my 36hp PD
BoatDr in Harahan does great work and is very knowledgeable. Little bit of a drive, but worth it IMO. I believe one of our new sponsors, Calen, is in Franklin which looks like it might be a lil closer to you. He seems to have a good reputation with the folks on here as well.

Re: Thinking about hopping up my 36hp PD
Andy hooked me up with a deal on a used Mikuni that could not be refused, so I'll probably put it on at some point, but I'm not in a huge hurry to try it out.

Re: Thinking about hopping up my 36hp PD
x2 to what garret said, calen did my stage 1 and the difference from stock was like night and day....he does good work and backs it up, when you call him he can tell you more than you want to know on the subject and def point you in the direction you want to be.

Re: Thinking about hopping up my 36hp PD
Calen's engine service. I'd call Andy too, just to get a couple different recommendations and prices. 504-737-1203 Good luck, let us know what you decide to do.
