 engine dying help
I'm having some engine issues with my 04 prodrive. It'll run perfect for 1/2 mile or so and then just bog down and die while running full throttle. After it starts right back up but it will do this two or three times. After that it runs perfect again until you stop for a while and them sometimes it will do it again and sometimes it runs perfect. The plugs are brand new...anyone have any idea what would cause this?

 Re: engine dying help
Sounds like a fuel issue! almost like its starving for fuel. do you have a inline fuel pump?

Next time it bogs down squeeze your fuel bulb and it will tell you if its starving for fuel.

 Re: engine dying help
Ck your vent on your fuel tank, and the entire fuel line for an air leak including any quick disconnects that you have.

 Re: engine dying help
It's a 32. I dont have an inline pump or quick disconnects. At the time I didn't try pumping the bulb while it was dying but I did glance at the fuel filter and it was full and the tank was vented. What's the best way to check the rest of the line for air leaks?

 Re: engine dying help
if you have a primer ball check that its not sucked flat. you could still see fuel in the filter but if the ball is flat it wont allow the fuel to flow out. if you stop the motor the pump will stop tthe vacume that has the ball flat and you will be able to run some more till it sucks the ball flat again. just another thing to look for.

 Re: engine dying help
If my fuel filter is empty and I get bubbles when im filling it up with the bulb does that mean I have an air leak? once the filter is fully full though I don't get any more bubbles even if I pump the bulb a few more times.

 Re: engine dying help
i had a similar problem with my engine. it would run good for a while and then i could watch the rpms steady goin down. it took 3 trips back to the shop before they figured out wt was wrong with it. my choke cable wasnt letting the choke go back fully and was choking the engine and robbing it of power. just something to check out.

 Re: engine dying help
I'm gonna try to check everything out this evening. Can anyone tell me if the air bubbles when I fill the fuel filter are normal or an air leak? I remember reading something about bubbles in the filter being bad but I don't remember the exact circumstances.

 Re: engine dying help
Bubbles while priming it are normal (always have been for me anyway), if you prime it up & the fuel drains back out, tell tale sign of air leak. Like was said before, try pumping bulb when it's trying to die. If that keeps it going, you could have a bad fuel pump.
