Pull the spark plugs and roll the engine over to make sure there is no water on top of the piston! Thats about all else I can think of!
Edit- flush out the carb with fresh fuel also!!

I did this once with a buddy. Be sure to take plugs out and turn it over a few times until water quits spitting out then put plugs back. Drain the carb and then pump with new gas and crank it for a minute and then shut it off and put new oil in it again and if the oil is still milky keep changing until no more whiteness at all! And that should be it we had to change oil about 6 times but he has a 27. Everything should be fine as long as you change oil and get new plugs.

Lots of WD40. Pull spark plug make sure there is no water in your cylinders. Water will get everywhere, maybe even shake it around a little. Then replace oil til it's no longer getting lighter. (that's if you missed some water)

EDIT: got errored out of MMT and you bastards beat me to it!

There is very little to one of these motors at all, you can take it apart with a 7,8,&10mm nut driver basically.

I would
1. Drain the oil and flush it out once or twice.
2. Drain the tank out really well ( I would probly take it off and blow it out with an air compressor)
3. Take off the air filter cover and intake manifold (8mm) to get to the float bowl easier, remove that bolt on the bottom and dry out the carb and bowl (I think it is 5/8 but cant remember off the top of my head)
4. Pull your spark plug off and pull the recoil several times to blow any water out of the cylinder.
5. Give it all time to dry out Re Gas and Oil that bitch and don't look back.

I'd go with the rice. It worked on my iPhone when this happened...

No dont put diesel in it, it will swell the gaskets. thats old school and dumb.

Seafoam it after the first few oil changes. and run some in the fuel.
