Recently, I put a thinner head gasket, stiffer valve springs, advanced timing 8 degrees, removed governer, pipe, and put a K&N air filter on. And now I'm having trouble getting it to idle, I can get it to run at a fast idle but not a slow one. I'm kinda stumped dont know if it's a carb issue or something else.

How does it run WFO?

It runs really rough and kinda sputters when I try to idle it down, so it makes me think it's a carb issue.

If you're positive the timing key is installed properly, it's more than likely your carb.

Intake leaks can cause it to idle like shit also.

who needs idle, wide open all day long. but seriously, sounds like intake leak possibly. spray around all intake and carb gaskets with some wd40 while shes up and runnin. an easy check

Yup, it was an intake leak, apparently one of the gaskets was tore a little bit and I didn't notice it putting it back together. So I cut a new one out of a pop box and that fixed it. Thanks for everyone's help!!!!!

Okay, I still need a little more help. Having trouble figuring out how to set up the throttle linkage w/o the governer arm. Any thoughts and lots of pix would be great! Either gonna use a twist throttle or a clutch lever off a dirt bike for the throttle when done or I'm open for other suggestions. Thanks!

Anyone had any problems with a fly wheel self distructing with the governer removed?
