Prodrive Question - Is This Right?
Is this normal/correct?
DSC03585.jpg The two round bars coming up from the frame...one is higher than the other. The tall one is rubbing against the engine block when I turn. I looked back at some photos from when I first got the motor. The rods were the same as they are now...one taller than the other.

It rubs the block when the tower bushings are out.

Re: Prodrive Question - Is This Right?
No it rubs from after some under water impacts and the bar slams against the trim roller and bends. Cut it off to the same height as the other one.

Re: Prodrive Question - Is This Right?
Yea but if you just take the 2 minutes to cut it off and smooth out the edges, you don't have to fuck with it ever again.

Good luck with the cheeter pipe. Damn near tore motor off boat trying to bend it after smoking a stump WFO.
Cut it off just below bolt and bevel with a file. Takes 2 minutes.

Re: Prodrive Question - Is This Right?
You can bend it back with a piece of pipe, it is just a PITA. Bent mine in the marsh and had to bend it back to drive home. Get a buudy to stand on the cavitation plate and get after it. When I got back to the camp I cut it off

Re: Prodrive Question - Is This Right?
What purpose do these rods serve?
I talked to Peck this afternoon. He said loosen the set screw on the side and just turn the rod. So, I did it. But, it became trial and error because once rotated, I couldn't lift the foot enough to access the set screw to re-tighten. Found a happy medium to where it was clearing the sump when turning and able to access the set screw. He said it was made of stainless spring steel...so, yeah...pretty tough to bend. I did clobber something (submerged stump?) pretty good Saturday in Sardis Lake. Probably the culprit.
If this becomes a problem, the saws-all will get some use!
Thanks to everybody for their input.
