40 kohler pro vs 35 briggs van
has anyone here run one of these yet? i'm looking at the specs and finding it hard to believe that they can pull 5 more hp from just 6cc more displacement. i also realize that the proof is in how it runs, so how do these two stack up side by side? anyone run them both yet?

Re: 40 kohler pro vs 35 briggs van
Been some posts and opinions you can search....
The Kohler was 40 hp before the MB guys put on the carb that supposedly makes the difference.... Curious about this one myself - Kohler makes some pretty strong motors.... But word was that the hp and torque curves were not right for a MM - at least with the original kohler carb design....

I have only run it with a Mikuni on it ~25 hours. Great accelleration and power through the power band. Smoother running motor compared with the briggs. Pushed my 1754 Excel MW over 30 with 2 people (similar to my Briggs 35 with Mikuni, exhaust, and headwork).
