 Re: Longtail...home made
Making a parenthesis, but knowing us better, I want to show you, what I've built ... inspired me from the web, but also with the help of people in Italy. I was hard, but I've worked with passion, and I have led the project up to the end of work. I hope .... with your help, this time, to go and this project up to the end of work. On that site, I wrote under the name of user 'ginghis' http://www.gommoniemotori.com/forum/vie ... 35&t=14512And this is a clip with final product ! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmgjU_O8Ol8 It is true that here, in Romania, the rate of use of these type of engines(mud-motor) is 0. I'd like to think that I am first of such engines....may be. I typically use an engine Honda BF, 15 hp, 4t, but I have had situations, where in the Danube Delta, we couldn't pass over some obstacles with my engine. For this reason, seeing how many advantages provides this type of engine, I decided to start construction of such a motor.

 Re: Longtail...home made
Today we've worked least mud ... For handling motor left-right, I'd have two options: -metal-to-metal, with a fin to lubricate parts in contact. -or else, with a thrust bearing. I haven't decided yet, but I feel inclined to bearing.

 Re: Longtail...home made
You shouldn't need a bearing. Metal to metal would be fine. If you want it to be really smooth add an oilite bushing. (Like this )
Here is a pic of a homebuilt mounting bracket for reference.

 Re: Longtail...home made
that is a very small amount of adjustment in that picture. I doubt it would make much difference.

 Re: Longtail...home made
It locks the mount straight when the motor is rotated 180 degrees into the boat while pulling the boat on the trailer.

 Re: Longtail...home made
Good evening ! After I've documented, from the first support I gave up, and I decided to make another. The support, momentat is painted with a primer auto, but I don't want at the end of the project, to dye camouflage .

 Re: Longtail...home made
Your transom mount looks great! Will you weld a piece of flat plate across the top for the engine to mount to?

 Re: Longtail...home made
I think heavy for the bearing assembly is good. If it fits the shaft, it will work well. As long as it doesn't weigh 40kg

Recently, I bought a inductive tachometer ... I wrapped 4 turns on the spark plug, and we filmed a few values of engine speed.
