 Re: Longtail...home made
Should be alright as long as your prop size is correct. You just have to be careful revving the engine without the prop in the water to avoid high rpms without the governor in service

 Re: Longtail...home made
Depending on the conditions you are running in I would advise against removing the governor. It's easy to hit something under the surface and have the prop jump out of the water. I would assume this will put your motor at risk w/o a governor.

 Re: Longtail...home made
I would run with out one for sure you will get valve float which will limit the rpms before you pop the motor on a small honda or clone. The valve springs are only good to around 4100 in most clones/Hondas and if you happened to get larger springs that motor still will not spin over 4500 stock and shouldn't hurt a thing even if held wide open out of the water for a couple of minutes.

 Re: Longtail...home made
I've just bypassed the governor the way the throttle is hooked up, I have made the tiny tach hit 5600 before letting off... You will have no issues running without the governor, just dont let it spin those high rpms for an extended amount of time and you'll be alright, the prop in the water is enough of a load to keep the rpms in a safe range without the governor.

I have received one more piece. I appeal to this trick, because I didn't find a universal coupler to match the motor shaft.

 Re: Longtail...home made
Unfortunately, as I have written, in our country, the rate of use of these types of engines (mudmotor), it is 0. That's why it's hard for me to get necessary components. Universal coupler which I put it in pictures, is used when, ATV's, and I hope to be quite strong. Anyway, in part built, I used quotas very tight, without a tolerance. What you showed me you have, it is not very expensive, but I'll see what I can buy it. Thank's !

 Re: Longtail...home made
If you have your prop measure it plus 2 nuts and a little bit more for extra. Put one nut on then the prop then another nut.

 Re: Longtail...home made
Hello ! I'd like to know, that I have not given up on the project, and that's why I'd like you to accept my apologies for that I haven't posted. In the meantime I purchased two propellers (aluminum). You are currently working on a boat of glass fiber (for my) and this was pretty much the reason I've been working on mud engine
