Moving the pin up did not make a difference. Still maxed out on my up trim.

Move to top pin .. That's where my boat runs best even though it's a 25 ... And I still have upward trim available

First off congrats on the new motor.

As others have said move the pin up a hole on your transom bracket. This will cause engine to ride higher. Run it & check trim / prop position. Ideally you want be on plane and lose speed trimming up as prop rises out of water as your full speed ahead. When you trim slightly back down you'll regain speed and that's where you'll want to run it 75% of time. When in soft mud / shallow water trim down to maintain steering and control of your rig. If hard bottom hammer down and pray you don't get thrown forward

My boat was a 15 degree transom, and when there were 3 holes on the GTRs I ran it in the middle hole with plenty of up & down trim.

Pete just for shits and giggles, make sure you can hit 4700 rpms in neutral. Slowly rev the motor up.

Pete you should be set to hit 4700 in neutral.

Check your linkage and throttle cable and make sure your carb is able to open to 100% travel.

If your not sure what you are looking at and messing with, you can always remove the air filter box fairly quick and verify that you are getting wide open throttle via the butterfly on the carb

That was my next step. Haven't had time to check,it but I will tomorrow. Do I just loosen the screw holding the cable down and make sure it is traveling all the way open?

mine only gets 4400-4500 WOT stock motor should I be hitting 4700 also, if so I will be doing the same as you pete

Hard to tell but from the pic it looks like you have slack in your throttle so like OD said maybe your not getting full travel on your carb

The throttle lever has about an inch of play before it revs. You can zoom in on the picture I posted and see what I'm talking about.
To fix this if it is a problem, do I just loosen the throttle screw that holds the cable in place and pull the cable and then 're tighten? New to the stock carb stuff so any help is greatly appreciated.

Yea loosen up the screw that holds the cable and adjust the position. You want to get it to where you reach full travel on the carb before the lever comes in contact with the handle.

Don't they run those things before they ship them out?
