So had a little mishap last week. After trying to fix a drive belt too lose and thinking a previous owner put the wrong lower pulley in I installed a 48T pulley... Well guess it was a little too tight. . So now I got to redo this thing. Has anyone ever puller the shaft out of the planetary?

No gauge I had over an inch flex in the belt. Consulted GT. And that was the consensus.

Well off I go into uncharted water....

Guess this is more of a point and laugh thing. Not so much a help ya out kinda thing.

The part that's in the planetary is the crankshaft EXTENSION. What you see in that case cover is PART of the crankshaft, the missing part broke off and is what is sticking out of the extrnsion, and has a keyway. You broke the crankshaft.

You can get a whole new crank.

Depends on what you want to work on.

OP, find yourself a service center or someone who has a clue to work on that thing FOR YOU. I.e. Put the pieces in a box, and take to someone else....

yall didn't know? that's a motor from 1999, it's a reverse twist lock shaft. things are badass. it actually came with a 46.5 tooth gear! and a 3.5 blade, 19 pitch prop.

If he can't look at it and tell there's a bigger problem than getting the shaft out of the planetary he needs to do like someone else said and take it to a shop.

But I'll indulge him

Use an impact to unscrew the bolt from the end of the crank near the brake rotor and pull that side of the planetary out.

Then slide the outer planetary case off of the shaft extension.

Re install the bolt that was holding the brake rotor and use a three jaw puller to remove your shaft extension from your BROKEN CRANKSHAFT end.

Then tap the clutch off of your BROKEN CRANKSHAFT end.

Btw, the shaft EXTENSION slides pretty easily out of the planetary

To get the crankshaft out of the extension, you'll need to remove the bolt, and knock them apart.

That's blasphemy Russ. The crank and drive shaft just mate in the planetary.

That chit will buff out. Bring it to a welder and tell him to get something round and burn it in there hott!

I thought the crank came in from the front? nothing short of a 3lb sledge and some ****** effort..........3lb sledge and 1 swing from the front aND a new crank is in there like xnothing! know the old out the opposite way!

This worked best when mine broke off like that. Get the 5/8" size.

it's actually a 7/16 -20 thread pattern on the shaft extension bolt. and you can actually use a bolt that is 2 inches longer than what gator tail puts in there. I got longer ones as I have bent 2 pulling shit appart. buuuutttt.....

he may need a 20 inch longer one to go throught from the front side!

By the way my wife is down. as in she is asleep, and you will probably post a new thread for help on waking a female to fuck. but in all honesty, best practice is to stick and move, you know like a boxer, you are half way done before she wakes and she won't argue.........TRUST ME!
