Post 37 EFI GTR
I ran into an issue yesterday. My 37 EFI GTR won't run any higher than 3100-3200 RPM without dying out. What I mean by dying out is, it seems like it is surguring. RPMs will drop all the way down like it dies and then kicks back up. But it is constant. You never are able to get it to run. Any suggestions? I am going to call Gator-Tail this morning but was looking for any input.

Sounds like a fuel pump failure of some sort to me. Need around 40 psi.

Find the MAF and unplug it. See if that changes how it runs, if not you know you've got a metering problem.

So you think it should hold 40 psi wot?

I have no idea what the MAF looks like on a gator tail. You have any pics of one?

I spoke with them this morning and he said he wasn't sure what was going on. Stated i needed to bring it in to the closest dealer. My issue is the closest is 1.5 hours from me and only open 8-5 m-f and 8-12 on saturdays. so i figured if it was just a simple fuel issue then i would go ahead and take care of it myself.

I would leave it alone and take it in for warranty work

Hardin County Tractor is now handling Gator Tail motors. Not sure if that is any closer to you. They are in Kountze.

Alright here is the latest and greatest. Took it to a briggs dealer since it was a motor issue and they told me a wire was broken and briggs would not warranty it. Not sure what wire because the mechanic was not there. I am going back today or tomorrow to find out where and also going to find out why.

WTF - didn't they make any notes on the work order how hard would it have been to fix a broken wire once they found it?

I just ran in to the same problem today after only 6 hours on my brand new 37 efi!!! So frustrating. I pulled the battery out and realized the nut on the negative side had shaken loose and now there is no power from the motor. If you try to give it gas it increases for 1 second then completely looses all power or shuts off. What is the deal!!! ??? anyone else???
